Daily Chess Training Plan

The difference between players who plateau and players who keep improving is a structured daily plan. Not just "do puzzles", a plan that identifies your specific weaknesses and targets them. See also our study routine guide.

Step 1: Identify weaknesses

Analyse your last 20 games. Where do you lose?

  • Opening: Out of book by move 5?
  • Middlegame: Missing tactics? Bad plans?
  • Endgame: Losing drawn positions?
  • Psychology: Time trouble? Tilt? This analysis tells you exactly what to study.

Step 2: Build the plan

  • 50% on weaknesses: If endgames are weak, spend half your study time on endgames.
  • 30% on fundamentals: Daily puzzles and game analysis.
  • 20% on strengths: Maintain what you're already good at. Adjust monthly as your weaknesses shift.
