Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 12 July 2026
Acceptance of terms
Welcome to ChessBhumi. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the ChessBhumi website and the online chess service available on it (together, the "Service"). By accessing or using ChessBhumi, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the Service.
Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Please provide accurate information when you register, keep it up to date, and notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. One person should not operate multiple accounts to manipulate ratings, matchmaking or any other feature.
Use of the Service
ChessBhumi provides online chess and related features for personal, non-commercial enjoyment. You may use the Service for any lawful purpose, subject to these Terms. You agree not to misuse the Service — including by interfering with its normal operation, attempting to gain unauthorised access, overloading our infrastructure, or using automated systems to abuse features in a way that degrades the experience for others.
Fair play
Fair play is central to ChessBhumi, and rated chess only has meaning when it's honest. When playing rated games you agree that you will not:
- Use a chess engine, database, another person, or any external assistance to choose your moves during a game.
- Deliberately lose, manipulate results, or collude with opponents to distort ratings ("sandbagging" or "boosting").
- Stall, abuse the clock, or intentionally disrupt games.
- Create additional accounts to evade restrictions or influence the rating pool.
We use fair-play measures to protect the integrity of rated play. Where we reasonably determine that these rules have been broken, we may adjust ratings, close games, or suspend or terminate accounts. You can report suspected violations from a player's profile.
User content and conduct
You are responsible for the content you submit — including your username, profile details, chat messages and any text you post. You agree not to submit content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, deceptive, infringing or otherwise objectionable, and not to use chat or messaging to spam or abuse other players. We may remove content or restrict features to keep the community safe, and we reserve the right to moderate at our discretion.
Ratings and results
Ratings, results, leaderboards and statistics are provided as part of the Service and are calculated automatically. While we work to keep them accurate and fair, we may recalculate, correct or reset them where necessary — for example to fix an error or to address fair-play violations. Ratings have no monetary value and confer no ownership or entitlement.
Intellectual property
The ChessBhumi name, logo, website design, text, graphics and the software behind the Service are the property of ChessBhumi or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, sell or redistribute any part of the Service without our prior written permission. The games you play and the content you create remain associated with your account; using ChessBhumi gives us only the limited rights needed to operate and promote the Service.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, for general enjoyment and informational purposes. Features such as ratings, analysis, opening data and puzzles are offered for guidance and practice, and we do not warrant that every result, evaluation or piece of information will be accurate, complete or suitable for every purpose. You are responsible for how you use the Service and any output it produces.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChessBhumi and its team shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including any loss of data, ratings, profits or goodwill. Your sole remedy if you are dissatisfied with the Service is to stop using it.
Third-party links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites, advertisements or resources that are not owned or controlled by ChessBhumi. We are not responsible for the content, products, services or practices of any third party. Accessing third-party links is at your own risk, and any dealings you have with them are solely between you and that third party.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if you breach these Terms, engage in unfair play, or use the Service in a way that could harm ChessBhumi or its users. You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time. Some provisions — including intellectual property, disclaimers and limitation of liability — survive termination.
Availability and changes to the Service
We aim to keep ChessBhumi available and running smoothly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, technical issues or factors beyond our control, and we may add, change or discontinue features at any time without prior notice.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of ChessBhumi after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, so please review this page periodically.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising from or relating to the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of India. If you access ChessBhumi from outside India, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for complying with any applicable local laws.
