Touch-Move Rule
Touch a piece, and you must move it if you legally can.
Under the touch-move rule, a player who deliberately touches one of their own pieces must move it (if it has a legal move), and touching an opponent's piece means it must be captured if possible. It's enforced in over-the-board tournament play; online play generally uses click-or-drag instead.
